On January 26, 2020, nine innocent people were killed in a terrible helicopter crash in the city of Calabasas, California. Among those people were basketball legend, Kobe Bryant, and his 13-year old daughter, Giavanna Bryant. The pair were on their way to the Mamba Sports Academy, traveling by helicopter as they typically did so that Kobe could return home in time to spend quality time with his wife and three other daught...

The Oscars, or Academy Awards, is a highly anticipated event that movie fans look forward to throughout the year. This year, the 92nd Oscar show, was broadcasted on the 9th of February. Many talented actors and actresses took the stage this year. The event was held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Oddly enough, there was no host this year. What there was a lot of, however, was some very unique fashion choi...

The 27-year-old singer-songwriter, Demi Lovato, made a powerful return to the stage at the Grammy’s since news of her overdose surfaced. In 2018, Lovato relapsed a few months after celebrating her sixth year of sobriety. The star announced her relapse by releasing her hit single “Sober”, including the lyrics “We’ve been down this road before...I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore.” One month after the release of the song,...

Cliffside Park’s varsity cheer team dominated the mat on Friday, February 7th at their last competition of the season. A bus full of supportive Cliffside Park students came to watch the cheer team in their final and, for some seniors, last ever high school performance. It was clear that the pressure was on, as this was their final chance to show all the hard work that they had put in over the entire season. From start to...

Cliffside Park High School recently received a grant from the Bergen County Utilities Authority for reusable water bottles. The bottles are meant to lessen the use of plastic water bottles at the high school. So why is this so important, and how are reusable water bottles better than plastic water bottles?

For starters, it is a well-known fact that plastic water bottles take a while to decompose - 1,000 years...

Realizing your self worth has to do with your overall mentality and how you view yourself. Unfortunately, due to the pressure that social media puts on people today, especially younger generations, people often feel the need to change the way that they look or act in order to fit into societal standards of beauty or status. The belief that you need to change one’s appearance or other aspects of life based on other people’...

Principal's Corner

Congratulations to the boys basketball team for their turn around this season. They have an opportunity to participate in the Bergen Invitational Tournament this year and the State Tournament is a possibility.

Congratulations to the CPHS Dance Team. They have taken a first place in the Regional Competition in this, their inaugural season.

The track team seems to medal every time they compete and Mock Trial closed the season with a victory. Individual success has been found by Avi Rampersad in bowling and Jacob Leiva in wrestling.

Seniors please be cognizant of your attendance. You are only allowed 18 absences. You are allowed even fewer in physical education, health and half year courses. It is concerning how many students have already been out more than 10% of the school year. We want to see you participate in prom and graduation. For those of you who this not concern, keep up the great work.

Sophomores interested in CAAD please listen for announcements. You can graduate with CPHS diploma and an associate degree that is highly transferable. It will cost only $3000 for a two year degree. That may sound like a lot now, but four years of college could easily cost $120,00.00. This opportunity cuts the cost substantially and we are proud to say we are among only a handful of schools that offer this program.

Yours in education,

Mr. Pinto
